Making its debut at this week's IAA Commercial Vehicles Fair in Hannover, Germany, is this production-ready study of Volkswagen's not-for-America Amarok pickup truck. The so-called concept showcases the two-door, short-cab model and is powered by a 122-horsepower 2.0-liter TDI diesel engine with the firm's fuel-saving BlueMotion Technology.
Compared to the four-door Amarok Double Cab, the Single Cab model has the same overall vehicle length but boasts a 2.20m-long bed surface. According to the German automaker, this allows two Europa pallets to be easily stowed one behind another, loaded transversely.
Volkswagen said that, thanks to the BlueMotion tech, fuel consumption on the study is reduced from the standard 122HP 2.0 TDI model's 7.4 lt/100km [31.8mpg US], to 6.9 lt per 100 kilometres [34mpg US].
The slick-looking Amarok pickup truck is manufactured at VW's Buenos Aires factory in Argentina.
